Purposes of Use of Personal Information Held by the Japanese Bankers Association in the Course of Its Business

1. Personal information held by the Japanese Bankers Association (Hereinafter referred to as the "Association".) shall be used for the following business operations conducted by the Association for the purpose of contributing to the growth of the economy and prosperity of the people's lives. This purpose is accomplished by researching the financial economy and banking management, planning research on the improvement of banking operations, and carrying out activities related to the protection and improvement of convenience for banking users, in order to promote the sound development of banks in Japan.

  • Research on the financial economy and banking management and collection of data
  • Planning research on the improvement of banking operations
  • Activities related to the protection and improvement of convenience for bank users
  • Recommendations to relevant government agencies, and mutual liaison and coordination
  • Planning operations related to various payment and settlement systems
  • Improvement of bill and check clearing system and operation of the Clearing House
  • Operation of Foreign Exchange Yen Clearing System
  • Support for social contribution activities by the banking industry and member banks
  • Planning research on the prevention of financial crimes
  • Cooperation with relevant government agencies to cut off ties with anti-social forces and support for members
  • Activities to facilitate finance for SMEs and individuals
  • Planning and operation of services related to response to consultations and complaints and dispute resolution
  • Operation of the Information Center for Cash Card Compensation
  • Operation of the Money Market BCP System
  • Administrative work entrusted by relevant organizations such as the Japanese Banks' Payment Clearing Network, densai.net, and the JBA TIBOR Administration
  • Administrative work entrusted by Swift User Group in Japan
  • Administrative work related to the CD online alliance between banks
  • Administrative work entrusted by the Japan Multi-Payment Network Management Organization
  • Planning of operations related to personal credit information and operation of the Personal Credit Information Center
  • Planning of research on training for members' staff and education conducted by members
  • Companionship and liaison between members
  • Liaison with financial institutions other than members and industries
  • Publicity on social functions of banks
  • Other services that are necessary to achieve the purpose of the Association (including matters to be done in the future)

2. Personal information held by the Association shall be subject to the provisions of 1. above for the following purposes.
If the purpose of use of specific personal information is limited by laws and regulations, etc., it shall not be used for any purpose other than that purpose.

  • To make credit decisions and address complaints about personal credit information at member of the Personal Credit Information Center, to disclose personal credit information and address complaints at the Personal Credit Information Center, and to facilitate the smooth operation of the Personal Credit Information Center
  • To ensure the smooth circulation of bills and checks and to make credit decisions by financial institutions
  • To facilitate the smooth operation of the Domestic Funds Transfer System
  • To facilitate the smooth operation of the Foreign Exchange Yen Clearing System
  • To contribute to the smooth compensation of victims of counterfeiting and theft of cash cards at member of The Information Center for Cash Card Compensation
  • To support the social activities of the banking industry and members
  • To conduct activities to protect and improve the convenience of bank users and to plan research to prevent financial crimes
  • To strengthen cooperation with relevant government agencies to cut off ties with anti-social forces and to support members
  • To contribute to the facilitation of finance for SMEs and individuals
  • To respond to customer consultations, inquiries, opinions, and complaints, as well as to record and store
  • To provide customers with details of consultations and complaints and the results of their responses
  • To operate counseling services
  • To smoothly operate the Bankers Library, send user guidance, and respond to customers when visiting the Bankers Library
  • To send pamphlets, DVDs, and other publications to customers and manage them
  • To send direct mail
  • To research and develop services by conducting market surveys, data analysis, and questionnaires
  • To cancel contracts and manage post termination management
  • To exercise rights and perform obligations under contracts and laws
  • To manage lectures, explanatory meetings, study groups, and seminars, send materials, and communicate information
  • To conduct training for members' employees and to plan research of the members' education
  • To manage committees, working committees, and other meetings, send materials and provide information
  • To express opinions and request activities to relevant government agencies
  • To promote companionship, exchange of opinions, and provide information with financial institutions other than members, related organizations, and industry
  • To ensure the smooth operation of entrusted businesses
  • To achieve other business activities aimed at promoting the sound development of banks in Japan and contributing to the growth of the economy and the prosperity of people's lives (including matters to be done in the future)
