JBA’s New Campaign for Preventing Financial Crimes

On March 18, JBA announced a new one-year “Campaign for Preventing Financial Crimes—Be Aware of Financial Crimes” starting April 1, 2008. This campaign aims to prevent financial crimes by heightening consumer awareness and enhancing perceptions of customers concerning the safety of financial services.

JBA conducted the “Campaign for Zero Financial Crimes” starting in October 2006 to alert users of financial crimes. And in February 19, 2008, as a measure to deal with illicit deposit withdrawals using stolen passbooks or Internet banking, JBA made the agreement to compensate for damages when both banks and customers are not at fault. These measures were taken to protect depositors and ensure customers’ confidence in deposits.

Still, crimes that involve banks have not diminished, as is seen in the new modus operandi of the “It’s me” fraud. The new campaign was planned to handle these situations by ratcheting up JBA’s efforts to prevent financial crimes.

The character “Watchdog for Financial Crimes—BANK-KEN” and the catch copy “Be Aware of Financial Crimes” will be used throughout the campaign, to show each activity is to be a part of campaign.
