JBA decided to designate October as the “campaign month to prevent remittance solicitation fraud” as a means to tackle the continuing frequent occurrence of remittance solicitation fraud. The industry will more actively conduct prevention measures and public relations in cooperation with the police during this month.
Specifically, JBA will cosponsor events held by the police and have staff of member banks, regionally-based bankers associations and the JBA secretariat attend these events as speakers to explain the fraud prevention measures of banks. Leaflets and packs of tissues, which JBA has produced for this purpose, will also be distributed at the events to further awareness of the issue.
