JBA Submits Request on Handling Charges for Direct Debits of National Taxes

JBA finalized a written request to raise the handling charges for direct debits of national taxes at the Board of Directors Meeting held on July 24, and submitted it to the Commissioner of the National Tax Agency on July 25.

The government has paid ten yen per debit (besides the cost for mailing the receipt to taxpayers) to financial institutions as a handling charge for direct debits of national taxes since January 1996. Since these figures are well below that needed to cover costs incurred by banks, JBA asked the government to pay a proper handling charge for the service.
